Oladapoo Fagbenle also known as Daps, is a U.K based Nigerian who was born on the 12th of February, 1986. Daps is an artist, video director, and former NCAA athlete. Daps’ story is an interesting one. He had his early beginnings in North West London where he was playing college basketball. His music video directing career happened by chance, but has ended up being the most lucrative part of his career. The bearded man is also one of the tallest music video directors in Nigeria (he’s 6’8”). Daps stated in an interview with 360 nobs “I’ve always been creative, In America I thought I would get a job right out of college that paid well, but that didn’t happen. Long story short, I ran out of all my savings, but then my brother was like ‘hey do you want to produce a music video for me?’” He agreed to do the video having no idea about how a music video was directed. He said, “He transferred money to my account and said, ‘figure it out, Google it." And that was how his music video directing career started. In the early days of he's career, he happened to be in the same room as Kanye. They did a long project for Kanye in the beginning of 2012. Kanye said, “We (him and his brother) basically produced a documentary for him”. The inspiration led to Daps deciding to try directing and producing. He began writing concepts, using his own platform as a locally known rapper to showcase his film making portfolio.
Daps has directed music videos for recording artists such as Migos,Stormzy, Iggy Azalea, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, Director X, Rita Ora, Kendrick Lamar and so on. Some of his works include the video of T-shirt by Migos, he's also the brains behind Wizkid's Come closer featuring Drake and most recently, Davido's Fall.
With all this, we can see that Oladapoo Fagbenle A.K.A Daps is a force to be reckoned with.
